Building the World’s Largest Ship (in 76 seconds)04/01/13 by: Michael van Vliet
While the Chinese seem to manufacture nearly everything that goes inside of them, the South Koreans are the ones who actually built the boats that make tran-oceanic shipping possible.
This video timelapse from Discovery Channel shows one of the new generation container ships being built in DSME shipyard in Okpo South Korea. These Triple-E vessels by Maersk are the world’s largest and will take advantage of economy of scale, increased energy efficiency, and new environmental standards to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% per container moved.
This timelapse video was a joint venture between Discovery Channel and Maersk and consists of 50,000 photos taken over 3 months.
